Medusa Floating Head
The art for this piece was begun several weeks ago. All was progressing well, but was set aside to make way for work to be done on the latest batch of figurine sketches scheduled for Jan 2017 release..
As with all of the images in this range, this is painted in Liquitex heavy body acrylics on A4 size Bockingford Watercolour board.
A slight glow has been digitally applied to the eyes to make her extra spiteful.
The execution of this painting took longer than any previous in the range so far because of the necessary detail, particularly in the snakes.
It would've been easier to recreate the image that was used as a figurine, where the snakes are 'gentlemen parts' but that wouldn't have been anywhere near as challenging.
Because of maintaining the A4 size, this image had to be made slightly smaller within the space to accommodate the serpents – which demanded some fine brushwork.
