Following a hard fought retailer competition last year, Collect@ in the Piece Hall, Halifax were well-deserved winners of the Bad Taste Bear Retailer Window Display Competition. As well as classic displays they put together some more imaginative windows, including “Slaughter of the Annoying Thing”, “Hook, Line & Sinkered”, and “Giza Job”.
The winners’ prize was for the creator of the Bad Taste Bears, Peter Underhill, to attend a signing event at the winning shop. Owner Pat Steer is genuinely excited. “I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life” she said. “We are all so excited, Pete is always great fun and we have been joking with him for years about how to get him into our shop and now it’s going to happen. We have tried to make it a little different from the usual shop signing events to reduce the queuing and improve the quality of the time collectors get to spend with Pete”.
What will the signing event involve?
This event will provide collectors of the Bad Taste Bears with the chance to meet Pete and share the intimate experience with a group of fellow collectors in a themed environment, created to reflect the Bad Taste Bear available on the day.
Collectors at the event will be able to get hold of the pre-launched stock of the latest BTB Carl. The pieces will be flown in especially for the day ahead of the general release and Pete will pre-sign each piece. As well as the bear, 100 Limited edition Carl prints have been created specially for the day. Any left over will be available to purchase from Collect@ on the day.
There will be several time slots that collectors can pre-book to meet Pete. Each will be approximately 50 minutes long, during which there will be a chance to get up close and personal, ask Pete questions, enjoy some friendly banter, meet other collectors, win prizes, have additional items signed by Pete and enjoy the themed traditional light refreshments.
To gain entry to the signing arena it will be necessary to purchase the pre-launched Carl figurine or a Carl Limited Edition Print from www.cw-theotherside.com, however there will also be a limited number of places for partners or children to watch and enjoy the event from the sidelines too.
As well as all this collectors will get the chance to meet Mr Bear himself. This larger than life character loves to meet his fans, especially the ladies and will probably be making his presence know throughout the day around the Piece Hall.
Finally all attendees will be able to take part in a special Bad Taste Bear related scavenger hunt with lots of prizes available for the lucky, the clever and the determined.
